Seth Curry cheering on big brother Stephen

East All Stars Seth Curry of Charlotte Christian School dribbles the ball down the court during Saturday's 16th annual Charlotte Pro-Am All Star Classic played at Providence Day School. East All Stars won 113-102.

Charlotte Christian High guard Seth Curry wasn't expecting to see his big brother, Stephen, play for Davidson against Wisconsin Thursday night. At least not in person.

He figured he would watch on television like everyone else.

But after his Charlotte Pro-Am East all-star team practiced Thursday, Charlotte Latin's Will Reigel -- also playing for the East stars -- told Curry a family friend was flying up to the game and had a spare seat on the private plane.

It didn't take Curry too long to say yes and pack up.

The plane left Charlotte at 4, got to Detroit around 6, and Seth Curry suddenly found himself in the stands at Ford Field about 15 rows behind Davidson's bench.

He cheered as his big brother scored 33 points to lead Davidson to a surprising 73-56 win against Wisconsin that sent the Wildcats to the Elite Eight and kept alive the best story of the 2008 tournament.

Davidson, a No. 10 seed in the Midwest Regional, plays No. 1 Kansas Sunday at 5:05 p.m. (WBTV, Channel 3 in Charlotte).

Seth saw his brother score 70 points in two NCAA tournament games in Raleigh last week, but standing there watching in Detroit -- "it was a great atmosphere," Seth said, "in this big `ol arena'' -- he figured that was Stephen's best game ever.

"It was the moment, where they were," Seth said shaking his head after Saturday's all-star game, which his East team won 113-102. "Every time, he amazes me. I just can't believe it. I don't think he can do it every game and yet he does it every game."

Seth and his friends left Detroit immediately after the Wisconsin game and got back to Charlotte Friday morning about 1 a.m., in time for Seth and Reigel to join their all-star teammates to visit a local elementary school later that day and speak about being true student-athletes and staying off drugs.

"Getting in a 1, man, it kind of felt like I was in the league (NBA)," Curry said with a big smile.

Saturday, Curry scored 15 points in the all-star game. Like his father, Dell, who played in the league, and like his brother - whom NBA star Lebron James said Thursday definitely could play in the league - Seth has a quick shot with deep range.

Whereas Stephen looks more like his mother, Sonya, and has her mannerisms, Seth is all Dell. He's got the walk, the long arms, the large feet. Seth has signed with Liberty.

He's handling his brother's successes well. He appears proud, not envious.

I think Seth will be a star at Liberty.

For now, he's planning to be a little brother, a fan and hoping Davidson's story can extend a few more days.

He's trying to figure out how to get back to Detroit for today's game.

"I'd love to be there," Seth said. "Just want to see what Stephen might come up with."
