Duke assistants Steve Wojciechowski and Chris Collins both will be promoted to associate head coach as Nate James is added to the staff to replace Johnny Dawkins.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski announced the moves Tuesday, calling James a "great addition" in a news release. James played for Duke from 1996 to 2001 and had served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach last season.

His two seasons as a team captain included 2000-01, when Duke won its third NCAA title.

"His maturity, toughness and dedication to Duke will blend well with the current staff we have in place," Krzyzewski said in a statement.

James replaces Dawkins, who was Krzyzewski's associate head coach before accepting Stanford's head coaching job last month. That led to the promotion of Wojciechowski and Collins, who are also former Duke players and have been on the staff since 1999 and 2000, respectively.
