DE LA HOYA VS. FORBES10 p.m., HBO
Oscar De La Hoya has a huge bank account, an office tower he owns in Los Angeles and a thriving boxing promotion business. He also owns Spanish language newspapers, Ring magazine and part of the Houston Dynamo soccer team. So why is the "Golden Boy" still boxing at age 35?
Because he still commands a hefty pay day. De La Hoya (38-5, 30 knockouts) will make $50 million or more this year for his "final" three fights, most of it coming from a planned September fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
De La Hoya's retirement tour begins with tonight's 150-pound bout in Los Angeles against Steve Forbes (33-5, nine KOs).
