Carolina tight end Dante Rosario dove and got his hand on a pass from quarterback Jake Delhomme, but couldn’t catch it and instead tipped it into the hands of Bucs’ safety Tanard Jackson. The turnover gave the Bucs the ball at the Carolina 26 and set up a touchdown five plays later.

The Panthers showed some life when Delhomme completed a 48-yard pass to Steve Smith, but it looked like if the ball hadn’t hung up in the air and had been better thrown, he could’ve scored.

The Panthers had a second-and-goal at the Tampa 1 and looked ready to score a touchdown until the legs of Delhomme and running back Jonathan Stewart got tangled on the handoff, causing Stewart to fall and resulting in a 1-yards loss. Carolina had to settle for a field goal.

Nineteen yards really mattered on Carolina’s first possession of the second half. After a replay review determined the Bucs’ Michael Bennett downed a punt at the 1-yard line before his feet reached the end zone, the Panthers had the ball at the 1 instead of the 20 if the initial call of a touchback had been upheld.

Tampa faced third-and-2 from the Panthers’ 37 when quarterback Jeff Garcia completed a 23-yard pass to running back Earnest Graham for a first down. The play led to a touchdown that put Tampa ahead 27-3.
