Former Florida quarterback Chris Leak, who starred at Independence High, will begin a three-day rookie camp with Kansas City, his father said.
Curtis Leak said his son, who was married this year, also has interest from Buffalo. Curtis said if Kansas City didn't sign his 22-year-old son, Buffalo would invite him to a three-day camp.
Chris Leak led Florida to the 2007 national title win against Ohio State and was named the game's most valuable player, but was not selected in the 2007 NFL draft.
He signed as a free agent with Chicago but was cut before the season. Leak later signed to play in a new league, All-American Football, which was to begin play this spring.
In March, the league postponed its inaugural season until 2009, citing financial issues.

SAN DIEGO:Buddy Nix is out as assistant general manager.
The Chargers sent out a news release Tuesday saying Nix resigned, and that the personnel department had been restructured by general manager A.J. Smith. The moves included hiring Randy Mueller, a former NFL general manager -- most recently with Miami last season -- as senior executive.
Nix wasn't available for comment Tuesday, and neither Smith nor Chargers President Dean Spanos immediately returned phone calls seeking comment.
Nix, 68, joined the Chargers in 2001 as director of player personnel, following John Butler and Smith from Buffalo to rebuild the Chargers. After Butler's death in 2003, Smith was promoted to GM and Nix to assistant general manager. Before joining the Chargers, Nix spent eight years as a Buffalo scout.
Smith promoted six executives and said Mueller will scout the top prospects throughout the country.
