MACKENZY BERNADEAU

7th round, 250th overall

Mackenzy Bernadeau

SCHOOL: Bentley (Mass.)

POSITION: Guard

HEIGHT: 6-4

WEIGHT: 298

COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS: The Division II All-American was a four-year starter and the first player ever drafted from Bentley. He played guard and tackle in college. Although he missed four games because of a knee injury last season, he was still named All-American.

BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW: Bernadeau was selected two picks before Mr. Irrelevant, the name traditionally given to the last player drafted.

-- Stan Olson

PANTHERS FIT: Probably is training camp filler at this point, because he's likely to have to play guard in the NFL and Carolina is loaded with guards. He's athletic, smart and agile with good size, and the team probably figured he was worth taking a risk on. Will be something of a project, but everyone realizes that.
