The principal of North Stanly High School and a secretary there have been arrested and charged with stealing money from the school.
Principal Joyce Whitley Steele and Yvette Howell Misenheimer, a secretary and bookkeeper, turned themselves in to authorities on Thursday.
Steele and Misenheimer were charged after an audit found money missing from the high school. Investigators have not said how much was stolen.
Steele is charged with embezzlement, larceny by employee, and obtaining property by false pretense.
Misenheimer is charged with larceny by employee and obtaining property by false pretense.
Steele was released on $10,000 bond. Misenheimer was released on $5,000 bond.
