OBSERVATIONS | RICK BONNELL

• It took half a season for Jason Richardson to do what no other Bobcat did over 82 games.

He already set the team record for most 3-pointers made in a season. The previous record was 115, by Jumaine Jones, and Richardson reached 117 in Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Yes, Richardson puts up a lot of 3s, an average of 6.6 per game, but he makes plenty, too.

Entering Wednesday's game, he was shooting 43 percent from 3-point range, 12th-best in the league.

Anything above 34 percent is typically a strong shooter, considering the difficulty of the shot and the 3-point reward.

The Bobcats are waiting to hear whether Richardson is selected to compete in the 3-point contest that is part of All-Star Weekend next month in New Orleans.

• Gerald Wallace was in question to play, due to a strained left calf. So it was unexpected -- and impressive -- he played all 48 minutes of the game versus Dallas.
