"Artevation," an exhibit combining art and historic preservation, opens 7-9 p.m. tonight at The Queen's Art Gallery, 1212 The Plaza.
Put together by Historic Charlotte, the show of work by nine local artists honors National Historic Preservation Month and the late urban planner and artist Warren Burgess.
Pen and ink and water color drawings of Burgess, who carried his sketchbook when he walked neighborhoods and streets, will also be on view and for sale. Burgess died in 2005 after working as a planner in Charlotte and Davidson.
Among the other artists offering work are Nellie Ashford, Byron Baldwin and Diane Davis.
Proceeds from any sales will go to Historic Charlotte.
A joint meeting of Historic Charlotte's history learning series and the Civic by Design Forum will be at the gallery at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Both the opening and the meeting are free to the public.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Through May 30. Information: e-mail info@historiccharlotte.org or www.HistoricCharlotte.org.
