Looking for the perfect match?

No, silly, we mean the perfect tennis match.

MatchMaker Tennis offers recreational tennis play in all formats and levels.

The year-round club sets up members with others of the same skill level and offers free beginner lessons and low-cost lessons for more advanced players. MatchMaker also holds daily tennis clinics throughout the city.

"It's as much tennis as your schedule will let you play," says Judy Harding, who runs the club.

If you're looking to get your game on this summer, you've got until May 31 to register for MatchMaker's summer leagues.

The club also organizes trips to tennis camps, clinics and seminars and holds social events like cookouts and comedy club nights. This summer, the club will take a trip to the Van Der Meer Tennis Center in Hilton Head.

A couple hundred members are involved, though membership varies each season. Teachers, for example, tend to play frequently in the summer when they're off work, Harding says. Members range from 21-year-olds to people in their 70s, but most players are in their mid-30s.

The group will hold a mix and mingle Thursday, May 22.

MatchMaker Tennis isn't a dating group, though some members do end up dating, Harding says.

"We just make tennis matches," she says.
