Where can guests stay? Go straight downtown

Southern Breeze House is a renovated vacation rental in heart of York

It's that time of year again: graduations, weddings, reunions. If you're looking for a family-friendly, unique place for guests to stay, Penny Lemberger has the answer.

Lemberger has opened the Southern Breeze House, a vacation rental right in the heart of York. The brick rancher with the pretty yard is at 20 Wright Ave.

"I'd originally bought the house as an investment," Lemberger said. "But York has needed a more upscale, contemporary place that's different from the impersonal motels."

The house, which is in the historic district and within walking distance of downtown, has three bedrooms and two baths. It's fully furnished, including linens and kitchen equipment. Included are a washer/dryer, cable, central heating and air, and cable Internet.

"We've had people stay for a few nights, and we've had longer rentals," Lemberger said. Recently, a couple from up North stayed for six weeks while they were house hunting in York County.

The prices are reasonable: $110 per night (with a two-night minimum); $700 per week; longer stays are negotiable.

"People like the convenience," Lemberger said. "It's like renting a beach house, but we supply everything you need."

For more information, and to find out more about the house, go to www.southernbreezehouse.com or call Lemberger at 803-684-6646.
