When inclement weather strikes and you need a place for the kids to run off some steam, check out Plaza Fiesta Carolinas' Indoor Playground.

Billed as the largest indoor playground in the Southeast, it is sure to be a hit.

The area has a footprint of more than 5,000 square feet and features a large hook slide that is 49 feet in the air and a double twist slide that starts 25 feet from the floor. There are also several interactive stations, and a three-lane slide.

Kids are required to wear socks and must be no taller than 48 inches. The playground shuts down for 15 minutes before each hour for a quick cleaning.

Geri Dodge and Tricia Baker, both Fort Mill residents, brought their kids on a recent rainy day.

"I like it because it is contained, clean and staffed," said Dodge.

Located across the street from Carowinds, at 3700 Avenue of the Carolinas, the indoor playground is open weekdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays it is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m..

Admission is $1 per person. A video arcade and party rooms will be available soon for additional fees. Details online at www.plazafiestacarolinas.com.

Breadsmith

Fort Mill will soon have a Breadsmith. The bakery has locations in 12 states, and ours will be the first in the Southeast.Owners Mark and Lisa Daubenspeck will be serving "hand-crafted artisan bread made fresh from scratch using only the best ingredients." Dessert breads, muffins, cookies, scones and other sweets will tempt you as well. Breadsmith will be at 2000 S.C. 160 W., in suite 101 near Towne Tavern.

A former Wells Fargo employee, Mark always knew he wanted to bake. "I'm a bread fanatic," he said, "and I have had to drive up to Charlotte to get what I wanted.."

A planned Victory Sports fundraiser will serve as the store's "soft" opening on June 7. The Daubenspecks hope to officially open for business on June 9.

It's your turn
